Profilometer: Typical Inertial Profilometers utilise a single accelerometer that measures the vertical movement of the Vehicle. This information is combined with the Laser Displacement data to give corrected road profiles. But this tends to have errors due to the “Pitch and Roll”. The Profilometer system offered by PCSD uses a combined 6 axis low noise accelerometer and gyro system to compensate for vehicle pitch and roll. This leads to lower drift in the assessment of vehicle’s motion relative to the road and therefore a more accurate laser compensation calculation giving more repeatable results between runs.
Latest laser displacement technology has been implemented and proven to give accurate and repeatable data giving the most reliable system currently available. Lasers power is managed by the CCU and is switched to low power when not in use, eliminating Laser Burn-Out, commonly seen on other systems.
